Will a robot mower suit my garden?

Size, passageways and obstacles together tell the full story.

Robot mower on the lawn beside a home

In brief

An open rectangular lawn requires something other than different zones with narrow passages. Make an overview of the parts you want mowing.

View the surroundings

Trees, buildings, slopes, stairs and water areas must be assessed. The limits and possibilities vary by device and navigation system.

Plan the practical side

Where can the charging station go? Is a suitable power supply available there? Can garden furniture and toys be kept out of the mowing area? These answers help make the advice more specific.

Draw the actual mowing area

Mark only the pieces of grass that the robot needs to maintain. A plot area including house, terrace and planting is not a mowing area. Also sign separate zones and their connections. Specify where you want to update edges yourself. So it becomes clear whether you mainly save time or unwelcomely leave a lot of movement and updating.

Ask for an assessment of the difficult places

Photograph narrow passages, steep parts, trees and edges along water. Ask not only whether a robot fits theoretically, but how that specific zone is set up and tested. A general product claim about maximum slope says little about an irregular transition. The chosen model and its installation rules determine what is possible.

Think of daily use and safety

Discuss how children, pets, loose items and garden maintenance are organized together with a mowing schedule. The robot is no reason to release safety instructions. Ask for explanations about stopping, disabling and safe cleaning. Wattra first looks at the garden and then confirms which available brands and models fit your situation.

Which robot mower is the best for my garden?

There is no best model for every garden. First, clarify which areas should be mowed, how they are connected and where children or animals play. Let the proposed operation for your area explain and demonstrate where possible. A general online ranking does not prove that a device fits narrow passages, trees and slopes in your garden.

General decision guidance, not a technical inspection report or a personal return calculation. Your installation or garden requires a separate assessment.
