Where do you start?
Do you want to make one room more comfortable or replace the central heating? First, tell me what you want to improve. Then we assess the house and the entire installation, not just the device.
Is a heat pump suitable for your home?
Also in an existing house a heat pump can fit. That depends on the heat loss, the heat output and the entire installation. Just your year of construction, EPC label or device price doesn't give a yes or no. Let's see what your apartment needs, even after the renovations you're planning.
Start with your doubt. Open the question that matters to you.
Do I have to renovate my entire apartment first?
Not automatically. First map where your home loses heat and which works are still planned. Roof, windows, walls and ventilation influence heat demand. A heat loss calculation helps determine the required power; an EPC or annual consumption is useful background, but does not replace that calculation. Planned insulation can change the later heat demand.
Can my existing radiators stay?
Sometimes. Let the radiators check per room to see if they can release enough heat at the intended water temperature. Underfloor heating is not always necessary; suitable radiators or ventiloconvectors may also be a solution. Only finding that you have radiators is no reason to reject a heat pump or recommend it immediately.
Is fully electric or hybrid wiser?
A hybrid system combines a heat pump with a gas boiler. It can be an intermediate step, but is not the best choice by itself because there is already a kettle. Discuss which role the boiler will get, which renovations will follow and which parts will remain usable later. Compare also maintenance and the cost of maintaining two systems.
What if I want to cool or warm one room?
Then your question is different from replacing the central heating. An air-to-air heat pump (fixed air conditioning) heats or cools air in the affected areas. An air-to-water heat pump works with heating water. Therefore, first name which rooms should be comfortable and whether domestic hot water for shower and kitchen is part of the assignment.
Do I have enough space and a suitable connection?
At an air heat pump we assess the location of the outdoor unit, sound for yourself and your neighbors and the pipeline route. Inside, space may be needed for additional parts or a hot water tank. Also have the electrical connection and other large consumers checked together. An increase is not the same for every home; any grid adjustments are tuned with Fluvius.
How do I know what it's really going to cost me?
In addition to the unit price, ask for installation, control, connection work, adjustments to heat output and possibly hot water. Let a consumption estimate explain the heat demand of your home, the expected seasonal performance and the energy prices used. A return at one test temperature is not a prediction of your annual invoice. Wattra doesn't promise a steady saving without assessing your situation.
You don't need to know all this.
Please indicate which areas you want to heat, how you now heat and what renovations you are planning. Indicate whether domestic hot water is also needed. An EPC, consumption overview or overview photo can help if you already have it; a first call doesn't have to wait for that.
Wattra discusses your question and what technical assessment is needed before an appropriate proposal. Work for which recognition is required is carried out through our regular recognised contractors. An application is not an order.
