Background
Practical background, checked on September 19, 2026. This recovery decision has not been subject to a separate new rule from the last two months.

First safety, then normal service demand
Smell your gas, don't treat it like an ordinary quote request. Avoid flames and operating electrical switches, go outside and call Fluvius from a safe place on 0800 65 0 65. Follow the official safety instructions.
This article deals with the further choice in case of a non-acute boiler failure. A website request does not provide emergency assistance. Do not repeatedly reset an appliance to bypass a recurring fault. Let us first assess whether and how it can be used safely.

Describe what does not work without guessing the cause
Note brand, model, visible error code and the moment the malfunction started. Doesn't the heating work, lacks hot water or only happens occasionally? Add the last maintenance report when available. Only photograph safely accessible parts.
For example, hot water works, but the radiators stay cold. This is useful information, but does not in itself prove which component is defective. Leave the diagnosis open. An accurate observation helps to order more than a suspected part.
Ask what the diagnosis results in
Choose which research costs are charged and how you consent to any parts or additional work. Ask for an understandable conclusion after examination: what has been established, what remains uncertain and what follow-up steps are possible?
Also distinguish between interference and maintenance. Flanders periodically links boiler maintenance to control by an approved technician. A repair order should therefore clearly state what it includes and which controls or documents are required separately. One word on an application does not automatically replace the other command.

Review a repair on the result
A recovery proposal should explain what complaint it is dealing with. Ask what is in the price, which parts are available and which conditions apply for further follow-up. Let the performer indicate if there are any other identified problems left.
Do not just ask whether repairing is cheaper than replacing. Also ask what you reasonably know about the device after repair. Do not expect any prediction of the remaining lifetime. A fair description of the uncertainty helps you to place the choice in your renovation plan.
Compare replacement with a full command
In the case of replacement, more counts than the new heat source. Describe which rooms and hot water should continue to work, which home works are planned and whether common components are involved. Ask which preparation, finishing and commissioning are in the proposal.
Think example: you later plan adjustments to roof and radiators. Please explicitly discuss whether a direct replacement is appropriate to those plans or whether a separate design is required. Do not suppose that the fastest-mentioned device option is automatically the best-suited end solution. Planning needs to be confirmed, not guessed.
Wattra helps delimit the next command
Deliver your municipality, phone number, device data and short complaint description. Please indicate if you are owner, resident or contact person for a building. For example, we can discuss who gives access and who decides on research and further works.
Wattra coordinates the application with regular recognised contractors for climate work. First ask for diagnosis when the cause is unknown, and a separate replacement study when you want to compare the future solution. We promise no immediate intervention, available part or fixed savings; the agreement and scope are confirmed.
What you can prepare now
- Do not use the ordinary service form to report a gas smell.
- Note error code and concrete observations.
- Arrange research and additional costs in advance.
- Compare recovery and replacement as separate commands.
Frequently asked questions
Does an old kettle that is replaced prove cheaper?
No. Age is relevant information, but not complete diagnosis or cost comparison. Have condition, recovery option and housing plans reviewed together.
Is Wattra the approved technician himself?
Wattra coordinates the enquiry. Work requiring statutory recognition is carried out by regular recognised specialist contractors. Ask who will carry out the work and which documents are included in the agreed scope.
