What a home battery of 10 kWh costs
In a correct price is more than just the box:
- The battery modules themselves: most of the cost, mostly lithium iron phosphate (LFP).
- Inverter or hybrid coupling: depending on your existing solar panel installation.
- Installation and cabling: hang up or set up, connect to your distribution board, possibly a separate circuit.
- Configuration and control: Adjust the battery to your consumption profile, app and monitoring.
- We agree in advance which work, documents, inspection arrangements and any network-operator registration are covered by your project. The quote sets out the pricing arrangements and any additional costs. Wattra can arrange the official inspection; an accredited inspection body performs it and issues the report.
Why offers differ so much
Two offers for "a home battery of 10 kWh" could be thousands of euros apart. Usually, you don't compare apples to apples. The cheapest offers often only charge the material, leave the inspection to you, or post an unknown brand without Belgian support. On the other hand, there are sellers with aggressive house-to-house sales far above the market price.
Your home is also playing a part. A modern distribution board with space for an extra circuit makes the placement simple; an outdated cabinet sometimes requires a modification first. And if you already have a recent hybrid inverter, the battery can often connect directly to it, which is a noticeable pressure on the total price. That is why we only give a price after a site visit: then it is also a price that does not move afterwards.
Is 10 kWh the right size for you?
The right capacity depends on your night and night consumption, not what the neighbor has. A family that is not at home during the day and cooks, washes and watches TV in the evening often consumes 8 to 12 kWh between sunset and sunrise. In that case, 10 kWh is a logical choice: large enough to cover the evening and night, yet small enough to be fully used each day.
If you consume significantly less in the evening, first look at the price of a home battery of 5 kWh. If you have a heat pump, an electric car or a large family, then a larger system can pay: read what a home battery of 20 kWh cost. If you have any doubts about the size, our article will help battery capacity You're on your way. We are counting on your own quarter-minute data from the Fluvius portal anyway, because a battery that is too big for your profile never earns itself back.
What's in that investment?
Fair is fair: that average does not apply to everyone. Without solar panels, with low consumption or a profile that is already perfectly tuned to the sun, the bill could be different. That's why we charge first and sell after, even if the answer is that you shouldn't buy anything.
